What are Yoni Pearls? | Should I Use Yoni Pearls?

Yoni Pearls are also called vagina detox pearls and these pearls are full of herbs, covered with a small cloth. They are made for vaginal insertion. But why do you need to do that? Why Yoni pearls are inserted into the vagina for 24 to 48 hrs? You know that herbs belong to your pantry and planter, not your vag.

Wellness craze but for no good reason. Yes, unfortunately, they are just a wellness trend, and yes they are dangerous.

Many brands in the market claim that these vaginal insertion bombs can detox clean your vag and some brands go far beyond that, claiming them to be responsible for you to get pregnant. WTF. Is it true? Big NOOO…

What You Should Know about Yoni Pearls?

Whatever they are, you do not need to put them into your body. This might be a short answer. Now, this is the long one. These are also called vaginal detox pearls, herbal tampons, cleansing pearls, or vaginal peals, which are like tea bags (do not put into your tea even) for your vag.

Herbs like motherwort, angelica, borneol, rhubarb, osthol, rhizome are wrapped in a porous cloth that you insert inside your vag. In stores, Yoni Pearls are marketed as vag detoxifiers or uterus detoxifiers, but without any evidence or proven benefits. They are not recommended by FDA.

Do you know the fact that your vagina does not need any such creepy thing to be cleaned and detoxed? It can handle itself all its own. So, you do not need to put any Yoni pearls in your body.

Which Herbs are used in Yoni pearls?

Some of the basic herbs are used in every brand but may also vary from brand to brand.

  • Rhizoma
  • motherwort
  • Angelica root
  • Peach kernel
  • Osthol
  • Rhubarb
  • Safflower
  • Borneol

Alert: Some of the brands in stores also claim that they are using organic ingredients but that’s not true. Actually, they contain chemicals that may harm your private area.

How do Yoni Pearls work?

Just for marketing purposes, they are associated with a lot of benefits, which is not true at all. Below are some of the marketing strategies. Like once you will use you will get rid of:

  • Mucus
  • Toxins
  • Bacteria
  • Dead cells
  • Bad energy
  • Old blood clots

As we told you earlier that, some brands go further and claim that they can help treat:

  • Infertility
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
  • Irregular periods
  • Fibroids
  • Endometriosis
  • Ovarian cysts

But science does not prove this or back these claims. There is no research on these Yoni Pearls, so basically there is zero medical information. Manufacturers with such claims are misleading. This is dangerous advice that products like Yoni Pearls can treat or prevent conditions like pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis. Seek medical advice.

You are taking Risk

We already know that there is no study to prove that yoni pearls are actually beneficial. But with a strong conviction, we can say that they are risky enough. A healthy vagina is having a pH ranging from 3.8 to 4.5.

You do not want to disturb it right. Using such things (Yoni Pearls) that contains harsh chemicals and fragrance can alter these pH levels.

These kinds of problems may arise:

  • Itching
  • Cramping
  • Unusual vaginal discharge
  • Yeast infections
  • Burning
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Bacterial vaginosis

You might have heard about the risk of toxic shock syndrome. This is actually a bacterial infection when Yoni Pearls are inserted for too long inside the vagina. It can be life-threatening sometimes.

We have noticed that some brands even write the instructions, for how long you should be putting the Yoni Pearl inside your vag. This is horrible and dangerous advice.

Even it is advised to change the tampons and menstrual cups every 5 to 7 hours or max 8 hours. How can Yoni Pearls be put in for 72 hours, despite knowing that they are not designed to be inserted into vag, even for 5 to 10 minutes can be dangerous?

Yoni Pearls are Dangerous for Fertility and Pregnancy

Some folks believe that Yoni Pearls can improve the chances of getting pregnant, but I wanna tell you, they are simply wrong. The truth is they can lower the chances. The only thing they can do is vaginal infections and PIDs, infertility, chronic pain.

Yoni Pearls can cause Miscarriage

They are not safe in any condition, particularly the risk is at peak if you have a baby on board. Miscarriages may also be caused by genetic complications, but research suggested that most methods of vaginal washing increase the risk of early childbirth and miscarriage.

Douching can take out good bacteria like Lactobacillus from the vag. You want the good bacteria right?

Why do People Use them?

Do you know what Yoni means? Yoni is a Sanskrit word, which means vagina. You will also find sacred space in some other dictionaries. Do not screw your sacred space. The real problem is prejudice and the marketing of media, conveying a message that vag is an area that’s dirty or needs cleansing. It’s not supposed to taste like sugar candy😉.

Instead of Yoni Pearls, Do This.

1. For infections in Vag

Yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, and unusual discharge are the problems many peeps experiences. Do not use Yoni Pearls to treat the above conditions. Consult your doctor, they can explain what’s actually wrong down there and will suggest proper medication.

 2. For Cleaning

You do not need to do anything. They are self-cleaning. Simple water and mild soap can be used to clean the vulva the outer part just. Breathable panties can make things good rather than cleaning.

Free Tip: Do not use harsh soaps, cleansers, chemicals, and fragrances that can change the natural pH levels or harm the good bacteria.

3. For Cleansing your Uterus

No need simple is that. It can take care of itself. It can clean itself monthly. Consult with your doc for any other medical condition which is related to your uterus.

4. For detoxing your vag

There is no such thing as a dirty vagina. So, the vag is not having any toxins which can harm itself. It has its own toxin removing system as our body has. Don’t be foolish when a brand or marketing guy tells you all this.

5. For Good odor

There is no bad or odor at all when it comes to vag. Normally it has a salty or metallic scent or taste. This is again normal. It won’t taste like your fav sugar candy. If possible, avoid harsh fragrances or cleansers, they will do a lot more harm than good.

6. Does your vagina actually smells bad?

Consulting your doc is always the best option. If something isn’t normal, go to your doctor, they can help you. They can explain the real problem and treat it accordingly to clear things up. We are reiterating that your vag is not gonna smell like jasmine.

Takeaway

When it comes to vaginal health, Yoni Pearls are discussed a lot, which are herbs wrapped in a cloth. As we have tried our best to explain that, there is no research to back up any of the potential benefits of Yoni Pearls. But we know that they can be dangerous. Always talk to a specialist, if you have any problem, do not seek such kind of solutions.
