So, you might just end up with indigestion and ultimately bloating. We eat a lot of high-calorie foods that can lead to a feeling of extreme guilt and not to forget, some unwanted weight gain. Unfortunately, these are the pitfalls of social gatherings, which we can neglect and deny and also an integral part of the auspicious occasion of Eid. We cannot avoid gatherings but you can implement some of the followings tips to avoid some of the problem related to your digestive system and make sure that this Eid 2021 is a happy and healthy Eid.

  • GO FOR A WALK OR EXERCISE

If you want to be felt fresh, relaxed and happy, then go for walk or go for a workout. Walking and exercise should be in our routines as it releases feel-good hormones which positively affect your mood and help in managing your appetite. A good walk and exercise keep diseases at bay and make you feel more energetic. You won’t feel the guilt or it will help to reduce it, as you go digging into that plate of Mutton Biryani, Korma, desserts, Kebabs, Butter Chicken on the eve of Eid.

  • VEGGIES FIRST
You might be wondering why I am asking you to have veggies on Eid. Well, the best way to control and reduce your appetite is to eat your veggies first. Veggies are packed with essential nutrients and fibre which would make you feel full so that you can excuse yourself by eating fewer high calories and calorific delights. Always start your meal with a bowl of salad or stir fry veggies and see the results. Your tummy would ask for very little malai kofta and biryani.

  • EXERCISE PORTION CONTROL
If you want to keep your weight check, then you have to control your portions especially at social gatherings. You cannot make an excuse and pile up food in your plate just because its Eid and let your diet goals go for a toss. Once you fill your plate somewhere you are pressurized to eat it all so as not to waste food.

Mostly relatives urge to eat more, at that moment politely refuse a second helping of food. The best strategy at occasions like this to avoid food is strike a good chat with your closed ones so that you concentrate more towards the conversation and less towards the yummy delicacies. Do not live to eat rather eat to live.

  • DO NOT MAKE AERATED BEVERAGES YOUR FRIEND

Most of time we include aerated beverages to our meals, on the pretext of digesting the heavy food, the reality is far from what you think. Aerated beverages are loaded with sugar and do not do good to your body. For better digestion have a glass of buttermilk with mint leaves, rather than gulping down a glass of cold-drink.

Butter milk improves digestion and as well as also help you in eating less. It’s up to you now rather you choose sugar filled drink or protein packed drink. Go for latter and you will not regret.

  • CHOOSE FRUITS/DATES/FIGS OVER SWEETS
We all love sweets on Eid, like Sheerkurma or Seviyan. Eid isn’t Eid without sweets and desserts. We all crave these delicious sweets and Eid is the only time it’s made in such a large quantity with extra ghee, sugar and dry fruits. But we have to minimize the consumption, as we all do not want to miss the opportunity.

My advice would be, have fruits, like dates, fig, before having sweet dish and the natural sugar content in the fruits would satisfy your sweet tooth to an extent and a few bites of your favorite dessert would be enough. There are other smarts ways to tackle when temptation knocks on the door. Your body will thank you later for this.

  • LEAVE THE TABLE ONCE YOU ARE DONE
Satisfy your hunger and not go overboard after looking at the large spread of delicacies. When you are full it’s a cue towards closure. When our tummy is full it sends signals to our brain, so that you no longer stuff yourself. Once you are done leave the table otherwise your temptation towards food will never let you leave the table. Do not linger around once leave the table.
